PB & J Banner Merges with Old World Comics!

                        Picture
I am proud to announce that long-time friend and creator/writer/artist Daniel Frazier is joining the Old World family by bringing his title The Adventures of Nightclaw & Prowler to the Old World Comics banner!  It was a great but wonderful shock to have Daniel ask me if he could bring his completed 3 issues of the book and merge with my foundling company and have the up-coming fourth issue of AN&P display the Old World logo on the cover!  While my own first title The Powers That Be! is still in pre-production, The Adventures of Nightclaw & Prowler will become Old World's flagship title!  Welcome aboard, Dan!

                        Old World's First Trade!

                        Picture
TRADING UP!  The Adventures of Nightclaw & Prowler is now available in its first trade paperback.  Collecting the first 4 issues from the series, this beautiful edition features cover art by Mark Gould.  Of course, the trade is filled with extras which makes it extra sweet to add to you collection!  Also available is a poster of the cover - all of which are stored in the Old World Comic Shop right here on this site!

                        Yes ... We've got Videos!

Promotional videos, at least.  Produced by the multi-talented Daniel Frazier (this time wearing his film-making hat), these promos are very exciting and great fun to watch.  Why ... they're liable to make a person buy comic book issues!  So watch yourself - and these super-cool videos!  You can find them on this page on the drop-down menu along with "Cool Stuff".

                        The Powers That Be! #1!

At long last, the first issue of "The Powers That Be!" is available!  I feel like running around like Steve Martin's character in The Jerk shouting, "the new phone book is here!"  But will things start happening to me now?  More importantly - what things are going to start happening for our greatest sometime superteam?  With yours truly writing and Cory Butler drawing, almost anything could happen!  You can read all about the first issue on the Store page, and then order a copy.  Don't be a jerk - do it!

                        Nightclaw & Prowler go Digital

                        Picture
Old World Comics breaks into the digital computer age with its first title via the innovative digital comic reader Graphic.ly!  Graphic.ly is the latest and most innovative way for comic fans to enjoy books.  Through Graphic.ly's App (available free on iPhones, iPads, PCs and Mac computers) reader's have access to thousands of comic titles as well as a community hub for fans to share comments and stories.

Comic book creator Daniel Frazier pioneered the way for Old World Comics into this new frontier with the launch of "The Adventures of Nightclaw & Prowler" this month.  You can downlad the free Graphic.ly App on your computer, iPod, iPhone and iPad (Android App is coming soon) and purchase AN&P for only .99 cents an issue!  Other Old World titles are soon to follow.

                        OCTOBER HITS SET NEW HIGH

This past month saw an increase of over 33% in hits to the Old World website!  This was a great surprise - even with an extra "Old World Office" strip!  Thanks to everyone for stopping by.

                        OWC @ MOC

                        Picture
Two and counting - with one more to go!  The Cons keep coming, and even though Mid-Ohio-Con was not a hugh visible success (table #01 and facing a blank wall - come on, people!), it was fun nevertheless.

Kent Leedy helped to serve the Old World table along with myself ... and that's about everyone who came by the table!  (What's Tony Moore got that we don't have?  Oh - right.)

Still, the contact with fellow self-publishers was awesome, and it gave Kent time to read "The Book on Me".

And no - Kent is not Ralph!

Check out all the fun on the
                        Cons-Page.

Nightclaw & Prowler Make Their Way into the Public Library System!

I'm not a big fan of the collected graphic novel, but I'm a bigger fan now!  Don't get me wrong - I like graphic novels and collected editions; I just love slim individual comic books better.  But when three professional and non-comic-book looking ladies approached the Old World table at the Up! Fair in Lexington, Kentucky looking for books with a spine to place in the Lexington Library System ... Nightclaw & Prowler were on the scene!  Daniel Frazier quickly introduced the duo to the trio, and 6 sold copies of "The Adventures of Nightclaw and Prowler" graphic novel later - Old World Comics was headed for hallowed halls!  Buxom Blonde of "The Powers That Be!" wanted to go, but she wasn't quite dressed for the part.

UP! FAIR Ends OWC 2010 Con-Tour on a Hit Note!

                        Picture

                        Up! Fair
was certainly not your average type comic book con - but then it wasn't designed to be.  Set-up at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning, Up! Fair is (as the promoters say) "a celebration of the independent comic book publisher".  And it was certainly true!  With relaxing atmosphere, guest catering and warm comradeship as well as a great mix of diverse comic book readers, Up! Fair proved to be the perfect arena for Old World Comics!  What a wonderful experience for finishing up the con-tour year and absolutely one of our favorite cons to date!  Certainly a place Old World Comics can feel at home.

Daniel Frazier makes his way up the grassy slope toward the majestic Carnegie Center building.

                        Just Shy!

Holy Web-hits!  (I'm not as good at this as the boy-wonder!)  Still, the Old World website was just under 1500 hits for the month of November!  Thanks, everyone, for stopping by and checking us out, and for all the support for the webcomic and the printed books!  We hope to be bigger and better in 2011!

Collectible Card #3 Mimics Fab Four

                        Picture
The third card in the Collectible Card series debuts in January 2011 with the "Drab Four" making like the Fab Four!  The Beatles they ain't, but drab they are!  But there's nothing drab about the art for this piece by Briana Higgins, who also rendered the first issue of The Book on Me.  Quantity for this card are doubled the previous cards at a limited 200 print run, but will surely go fast at cons.  Get one to add to your set today!

                        Atomic Bowler Makes Limited Debut!

                        Picture
At least in script form!  This was the first script written to see production at Old World Comics - even before there was an Old World Comics!  It is one of my favorites, and I just couldn't wait any longer to share it!  Printings of the script are on a by-demand basis only, with only a few copies going on the road to conventions.  It can be ordered through our Comic Book Shop.  Much thanks to Kent Leedy, the creator of the Atomic Bowler, without whom the idea and story would never have become a reality.

                        Welcome to the Catacombs!

                        Picture
There are a lot of stories in my head to tell.  I didn't say they were all great stories; just that they are there.  But I knew that those stories would never see the light of day at Old World Comics for one of two reasons, if not both.  First, they just didn't fit what I had in mind for Old World Comics and second, there wasn't a budget to do everything and anything!  I had to pick and choose.  But not so much with the discovery of the Old World Catacombs.

As a writer, I want to write and be read.  As a comic book fan, I wanted to tell stories in the comic book format.  With Old World Comics I was able to pursue that dream.  Now with Old World Catacombs, I can do so much more and have even more creative freedom.  To check out why open the catacombs, read my recent blog entry.  To check out the new (but growing) catacombs site, just click and enter in.  Don't worry about losing your way ... yet.

                        PTB Gets Revised

You learn by doing.  By now I've a better idea how books are trimmed and prepared at the printers, as well as using my own programs in finalizing a book.  So the first issue of "The Powers that Be!" will be getting some minor changes to make it more uniform with the second issue.  Just to make it more of an event, there are unigue changes in graphics and minor rewrites, making the first print run a sure collectible item - right up there with Action Comics #1!  So please feel free to offer me a boat load of money for the remaining issues!

                        Webcomics Comings and Goings!

                        OWO Closes Shop!

Quite unexpectedly, the Old World Office webcomic will be coming to an end, at least on any regular basis.  The reason is ... well ... business.  For all the indepth details, see my current Old Blog post.  I would love to hear everyone's comments about the strip, so please let us know what you thought of all our office antics!  But, as they say, when one door closes ...

                        Enter the Catacombs!

Beginning in July will be the debut of Catacombs webcomic on our subsite, Old World Catacombs!  This will be a bi-weekly strip releasing on Wednesdays in the first and third week of each month.  Written by myself, Todd Goodman, and with art by Old World Office legend, Briana Higgins, the Catacombs webcomic will have more continuity than what OWO offered.  To learn more, visit the Catacombs ... if you dare!

                        FREE READ!

This would have been a great idea a month ago!  But Free Comic Book Day had come and gone, so better late than never.  In celebration of The Powers that Be! releasing it's third issue and closing it's first storyline, we are offering PTB! #1 as a Free Read!  Throughout June, you can read the entire first issue of the greatest sometime superteam for free, over and over, until you're sick of it!  Just click the link below and go to it!  (Try not to get sick.)

mydigitalcomics becomes the newest hang-out for Old World Comics.  While at Summit City Con in Fort Wayne, Indiana, I was approached by Cameron Merkler of the new digital comics site on the web.  An invitation was offered and Old World accepted.  The first book heading for the digital company is "The Powers that Be!" #1.  Old World Comics can already be found at graphicly with Daniel Frazier's "The Adventures of Nightclaw & Prowler".  Just more great ways to read cool books from the Old World!

                        "Out There" Over Here!

Originally planned for release under the Old World subsite, Catacombs, "Out There" can instead be found here, in PREVIEWS and our STORE, as well as its own PAGE.  "Out There" is a mystery / sci-fi series that opens in Point Pleasant, West Virginia and the legend of the Mothman!  The art by Old World new-comer, Ferry Susanto, was so stunning, that the format deserves a higher print run and greater print quality than Catacombs produces.  Click all the above links to go "out ther"!

                        OLD WORLD SETS "HITS" HIGH!

In November, with no conventions on the schedule, the Old World Comics website got 1700 hits from visitors and fans!  I want to thank everyone for stopping by, checking out the news and seeing what's going on, and supporting our store!  Traffic to the site always increases after a convention, so to see this new high in a down month was very exciting.  We look forward to bringing more stories and art in the coming new year!
