The Lone Writer
Todd Goodman
Todd Goodman has had more fake bios than hollywood actresses have fake breasts! Now that I have your attention - let's continue.
No recent photo of Todd exist. He's harder to photograph than Bigfoot! This outlaw photograph is all that survives his lawless days.
Let's try again.
I have always loved writing and storytelling. I can remember writing my first short story at about 8 years old while sitting on our front porch with legal pad and a No. 2 lead pencil in hand. I was "writing" and making 8 mm movies soon after with all the kids in the neighborhood. I remember my version of "The Planet of the Apes" without costumes - all the kids playing apes had to hunch over and stick their tongues up into their upper lip. Brilliant!
Then I discovered comic books. Kind of late in the game, actually. But I was a straight-up DC Comics reader! Superman! Batman! Green Lantern! The Justice League of America! WOW! That's when I started writing and drawing my own comics. When I say "drawing", I use the term loosely. I'm sure I was great for my age ... and for having no ability! Still, I mixed DC characters in with my own characters, and I can vividly remember Green Lantern and Flash meeting Barefoot Bullet for the first time! God - do I wish I still had those notebook pages! But, alas, I don't.
Somewhere in the 80s, I owned a comic book shop. Taking home more books than I sold made it very hard to make a profit, so I found myself finishing my education and getting a "real" job. But it was in those days that I actually starting dreaming of owning a comic book company and producing my own titles. (Hang in there, Barefoot! I'm trying!) But at that time, self-publishing was still out-of-reach and expensive, so yet another dream shelved.
But times change (ahh, technology!) So here I am today, writing comics through my own little company-that-can, with a lot of help from my friends - both old and new. And a lot of thanks to those behind the scenes who inspired me along the way, namely Wayne Osborne (creator and writer of FX, published by IDW), Kent Leedy (creator of The Atomic Bowler) and Daniel Frazier (creator of The Adventures of Nightclaw & Prowler).
Thanks also to some great talented artists and comic book lovers who just want to be apart of the scene. They can be found on The Artists page.
